Staying Resilient in the Midst of Trials

Trials are part of the ingredients that makes a successful life. It is one of those things that builds our capacity even though it always comes in unpleasant ways.

Many of us would have experienced difficult times at certain stages of our lives (or currently do) where it seems that we are left alone or forsaken. The truth is that, trials tend to mature us faster than any other life’s processes of growth.

It is our examination room where we are tested and tried to see if we are ready for the next level of our lives as regards destiny fulfillment.

If trials are necessities of life, how then do we stay resilient and unwavering while going through them?

1. Be Thankful

Sometimes being thankful in a difficult situation is the most difficult thing you can do. To be thankful rather than to complain takes a conscious act of the will and a sacrifice of natural desires.

Unfortunately, most of us respond with murmuring or complaining when we face hardship of any kind. However, through trials, we are being worked upon in order that we may grow resilient.

2. Stay Positive

If events are not favorable, there is no reason to be happy. But we can choose to be joyful and stay positive. Happiness is tied to temporal circumstances. Joy on the other hand is much different. It is not dependent on the temporal. True joy exists no matter what the circumstance may be.

To stay positive means to condition your mind to see the end result of the trial and not focus on the trial itself. The understanding that trials are meant to mature us into a better version of ourselves helps us to maintain a positive mindset and posture.

The implication of this is to consider your pain, your losses, your heartache, your grief, your struggle, your painful memories and, as you do, let them bring you joy. Every difficult dimension, every new and unpredicted element is to draw joy out of our heart.

3. Allow the process of change to run its course

Though trials may be painful because it mostly comes at unexpected times, we should however see it as a means of experiencing transformation. As we go through the difficult times, a new attitude is formed in us. We learn how to adapt to changes in life’s seasons and exercise our inner strength the more.

Getting the most out of trials requires that we don’t relieve the pressure but stay up under them. Why? For the trial to have its full benefit, it must be fully endured.

In other words, do not circumvent the process of change in your life by trying to remove yourself from trial. Rather, allow the process of change contained in the trial to run its course and have its perfect result.
